Gold Winners will receive cash awards. All prizewinners will perform in a Festival Recital at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.  Please note when planning your program, that the Recital Piece cannot exceed 8 minutes.  If a contestant is a winner, and he/she choses not to perform at the Winners’ Recital, recital fee is non refundable, and the contestant will not receive his/hers award or certificate.

 

This Competition is designed specifically for giftedstudents who are advanced for their ageThe repertoire list consists of pieces in four contrasting styles to demonstrate superior musicianship. It will consist of two rounds of live auditions, containing different repertoire. (No time changes will be allowed.)

 

 

Please note: Winners will be determined by a combined score from the PRELIMINARY AND FINAL ROUNDS.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL AGES:

 A program of four contrasting pieces (No repertoire changes are permitted without consulting the Artistic Director or division chair.)

  

PRELIMINARY ROUND:

1. Baroque piece

2. Fast movement of a classical period sonata, sonatina, rondo or a complete set of variations

 

FINAL ROUND:

 3. Comparable piece of a substantial size in any other style

4.  Miniature piece, which is either one page in length or one minute long (no exceptions).

 

 

Please note that your performance might be cut if it exceeds the time limit, which is specified below in the suggested syllabus.

 

✪ Small movements from larger Romantic works (i.e. Schumann s Carnaval, Papillons, etc.) or one variation from any variation set are not accepted as miniatures. If the miniature work exceeds one minute or one page, the piece will be disqualified.
