Application Fees must be paid by a separate check, and should not include any MEMBERSHIP FEES. If paying application fees for several students, please indicate their names (this can be done on a separate note).

Requirements:Contestants must choose one (First Movement) or two (Second & Third) movements from the required concerto repertoire listed below. In the Preliminary round, the judges will listen to an unaccompanied solo part with the cadenza, if there is one.This Competition is for piano and violin students up to the age of 10. The Prizewinners will be performing their winning concerto movement(s) with the Central Jersey Symphony Orchestra . The Judges reserve the right not to award any Prizes.

The Preliminary Round: Contestants must submit a video recording of their concerto in electronic format via YouTube ONLY which they must perform by memory. Recordings must have clear sound quality and be free of any extraneous sounds, ie. Metronome, snapping, clapping, clicking, singing and any other background noises. Recordings containing above mentioned sounds will be immediately disqualified.
The recording must be accompanied by a copy of the working score of the piece, which could either be mailed or submitted in PDF format and a completed Preliminary Round Adjudication Sheet (which could be found on our website under Adjudication forms). Recordings that are not labeled properly with the contestant's name, age, composer, and concerto (no., key, op. etc.) will not be accepted. The application must also include contestants biography and photograph which can be used in all publicity materials.
Judges from the Preliminary Round will make their selections of contestants for the Final Round.
Final Round: Contestants will perform their concerto with an accompanist in front of the judges. Teachers may accompany their students during the Final Round. Contestants must bring an original score and one copy for the judges.
If the contestant is chosen to perform with the orchestra, he/she must immediately submit the following: artist biography, a professional headshot in formal concert attire, and a non-refundable fee of $300.00. Please keep in mind that each winner will be obligated to rehearse with the orchestra 2 times, which will be determined at a later date.
Judges will make their selections of the winners and the results will be announced immediately following the Recital Final Round.
