GENERAL INFORMATION, REPERTOIRE REQUIREMENTS & APPLICATION PROCEDURES:
This Divisions repertoire requirements consists of one multi-movement work, a large work of any style under one title or opus, or a collection of 3-5 pieces from the same title or opus. As an example, contestants of any age can choose one of the following:
- An entire Baroque Suite, Partita, Toccata
- An entire Classical, Romantic or 20th Century Sonata
- A large Romantic Suite or Cycle - i.e. Schumann's Carnaval, Symphonic Etudes, Papillons
- 20th Century Suite or Cycle - i.e. Bartok's Suite Op. 14, Six Rumanian Folk Dances, Debussy's Pour le Piano, Suite Bergamasque
IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL MEMBERS: TEACHERS AND INDIVIDUAL MEMBERS
The applicant must list all movements of the chosen work, even though for the preliminary round, the competitors are only required to perform one piece or movement. Incomplete applications cannot be processed, and a late fee will have to be paid.
An email with instructions will be sent before the final round to either a teacher member or individual member. These instructions must be read and followed VERY carefully. This information pertains to the repertoire requirements, copies of the scores, and fees. Those who fail to comply with our instructions will be disqualified.
PRELIMINARY ROUND:
YouTube Recording: ONLY ONE PIECE OR MOVEMENT from their chosen work.
RECORDING REQUIREMENTS: The video must have clear sound quality.
The email with the YouTube video link must be accompanied by the following:
- Performer's name, age and membership number (if applicable)
- Teacher's name and membership number
- Division name and code number
- Composition name, Opus numbers, key, etc.
- Composer's name
- Performance time
FINAL ROUND FOR ALL APPLICANTS:
Contestants are required to perform their chosen work in its entirety.
